Massage therapy is the scientific manipulation of the soft tissues of the body for the purpose of normalizing those tissues and consists of a group of manual techniques that include applying fixed or movable pressure, holding, and/or causing movement of or to the body. While massage therapy is applied primarily with the hands, sometimes the forearms or elbows are used.

These techniques affect the muscular, skeletal, circulatory, lymphatic, nervous, and other systems of the body. The basic philosophy of massage therapy embraces the concept of vis Medicatrix naturae, which is aiding the ability of the body to heal itself, and is aimed at achieving or increasing health and well-being.

Bodywork Therapy

Bodywork is a unique and holistic approach to treating the body, which incorporates more than one modality of healing techniques. Many people train to become a massage therapist, but becoming a bodyworker takes times and maturation.

Everybody holds the key to their own healing, but sometimes the body needs a little help. That’s where my services come in. As an experienced and Qualified Massage and Bodywork Therapist, I work with you to restore your balance and find your center.

Bodywork ranges from very gentle energy work where the therapist uses light or even no touch, as in Reiki, to sometimes uncomfortable modalities such as Rolfing Structural Integration.

In classic Rolfing, a series of 10 treatments uses physical manipulation of the fascia to release old holding patterns and misalignments that are responsible for much of chronic discomfort and pain.

Other bodywork methods are aimed at reeducating the body's movement patterns so that it functions better.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is a technique that’s mainly used to treat musculoskeletal issues, such as strains and sports injuries. It involves applying sustained pressure using slow, deep strokes to target the inner layers of your muscles and connective tissues.

This helps to break up scar tissue that forms following an injury and reduce tension in muscle and tissue. It may also promote faster healing by increasing blood flow and reducing inflammation.
